Cut a Perfect 7-Inch Square of Waterproof Sheet
Cut a 7x7 inch square from a colorful waterproof plastic folder or heavy patterned cardstock. Draw diagonal lines connecting opposite corners in an X.
Snip Diagonal Slits Toward the Center
Cut along the 4 diagonal lines, stopping 1/2 inch before the center point. Punch a small hole in every alternating corner point and in the center.
Fold Points to Center on the Axle Pin
Bring the 4 punched corner tips into the center hole one by one, threading them onto a pushpin or sewing pin. Do not crease the folded petals; leave them gently curved.
Add Spacer Beads and Anchor to Dowel
Thread two small plastic pony beads onto the pin behind the folded petals to act as low-friction bearings. Push the pin firmly into the eraser or side of a wooden dowel.
